VAVA Home Cam

The VAVA Home Cam is a wireless home security camera that provides wire-free, hassle-free, and worry-free security for every homeowner to rely on and keep themselves, their belongings, and their home safe.

Powered by RAVPower, Home Cam has a specially designed, long lasting lithium-ion battery that only requires charging once a year. It also has a built-in alarm, two-way audio and mic, as well as an encrypted storage for round the clock protection without any extra monthly cloud storage charges.

With a 140-degree wide-angle lens, it provides a wider field of vision and coverage for day and night supervision in 1080p HD quality video recordings. It is designed to be discreet and cord-free to fit seamlessly everywhere.

Design Considerations

As part of our ongoing collaboration with VAVA, the Home Cam is the latest addition to a family of products we designed to make life simple.

When we set out to create the VAVA Home Cam, we thought about how day in, day out, we are living our daily lives for work, home, and play. We wanted to preserve this basic ritual of cyclical routines, we did not want to disrupt it. People have enough distractions already.

We were mindful of how the Home Cam will be placed around the home, both indoors and outdoors. It has to be displayed or mounted in different ways – placed on a shelf or attached to the wall. We also had to consider the risks of vandalism, so we needed to find effective ways to securely attach the Home Cam outdoors.

Our inspiration has always come from making products that are Useful, Beautiful, and Meaningful. Therefore, we focused on using very simple geometric forms that are beautiful but do not draw attention to themselves since they are very familiar. By keeping things simple, we have found successful concepts that work – gentle arcs and circles that are naturally calming and comforting. After extensive concept exploration and by process of reducing all extraneous details, we finally arrived at a very simple spherical form that elegantly captures all the functions and features required.

We want the Home Cam to be friendly and inviting, like a friend helping you watch over your house. It is a safety sphere that embraces your quality of life, monitoring it, letting you be aware of your surroundings when you need to, so one can focus on the important parts of life – family, friends.
